Chellah Castle

On the edge of Rabat, the Chellah is a walled necropolis where a medieval Muslim burial ground rises above the ruins of a Roman town. You'll wander gardens gone gloriously wild, past crumbling minarets, Roman columns and pools, with storks nesting on every tower. Romantic, layered and birdsong-filled, it's the most atmospheric ruin in the capital.
