Merzouga Dunes

The dunes of Erg Chebbi near Merzouga are Morocco's most spectacular sand sea, great wind-sculpted ridges that rise up to 150 metres and blaze orange at dawn and dusk. You'll climb them on foot or by camel, sandboard the slopes, and watch the light shift across an ocean of sand. Vast, silent and mesmerising, this is the Sahara of the imagination.
