Marrakech by Vintage Sidecar
Most visitors see Marrakech on foot, inside the medina walls. This half-day goes further — in the sidecar of a vintage motorbike, with a local rider who has spent a lifetime on the city’s back roads.
The route
Out through the old gates and along the ramparts, into the Art Deco streets of Guéliz, built under the French protectorate, past neighbourhood markets and a flea market where Marrakchis do their own shopping, then out into the Palmeraie, the palm grove on the edge of the city. Every rider has favourite stops, so no two rides are quite the same.
Why we like it
You cover in a morning what would take days on foot, you see the lived-in city most visitors miss, and it is simply great fun. Each bike carries two guests — one in the sidecar and one on the seat behind the rider.
Good to know
Helmets are provided. Bring sunglasses and a light layer — it is breezier than you expect, even in summer. It works best as a morning or late-afternoon outing, and pairs well with a quiet afternoon in the hammam.

Book ahead: High season is March–May, September–November and 15 December–10 January. The most beautiful riads and boutique hotels sell out early, so for these dates we recommend booking several months ahead.
