Private Morocco travel
Private Morocco tours for Edmonton and northern Alberta travellers. Eight tailor-made itineraries from 8 to 14 days, quoted in Canadian dollars by a BPCPA-licensed Canadian agency, with honest guidance on the long one-stop routings out of YEG.
Why Edmontonians book with usA long flight, planned properly
Edmonton is one of the further Canadian cities from Morocco, and we would rather be straight with you about that than pretend otherwise: you are looking at 16 to 18 hours door to door with one stop. What that changes is not whether the trip is worth it — it very much is — but how the first two days should be built. A tour that schedules a guided medina walk on arrival day is a tour designed by someone who has never flown from northern Alberta.
Gateway2Morocco is a Canadian agency, licensed by British Columbia's Business Practices and Consumer Protection Authority (BPCPA #80460), operating its own tours on the ground in Morocco. You sign a Canadian contract, pay in Canadian dollars into a regulated trust account, and deal with the person who wrote your itinerary. Alberta has no equivalent provincial licensing regime for travel agencies, which is precisely why that BC licence is worth having behind your booking — the detail is in our Canada-wide guide.
Getting thereFlying from Edmonton (YEG) to Morocco
YEG has no nonstop service to Morocco, and fewer direct transatlantic options than Calgary. Most Edmonton itineraries route through a European hub or connect south first. Expect 16 to 18 hours door to door including the layover.
- Via Frankfurt (FRA): Lufthansa or Air Canada YEG connections to FRA, then Lufthansa or Royal Air Maroc onward to Casablanca — approximately 16–18 hours total
- Via Amsterdam (AMS): KLM YEG → AMS, then KLM AMS → Casablanca — approximately 16–18 hours total, often the cleanest single-airline connection out of YEG
- Via London (LHR): Air Canada or WestJet YEG connections to LHR, then British Airways or Royal Air Maroc to Casablanca or Marrakech — approximately 16–18 hours total
- Via Calgary (YYC): a short hop south opens up more transatlantic departures, and is often cheaper than a YEG-originating fare — worth pricing both ways
- Via Montréal (YUL): Air Canada YEG → YUL, then Royal Air Maroc YUL → CMN nonstop — longer on paper, but avoids European customs and is the smoothest option for nervous connectors
Routes and frequencies change seasonally, and we confirm current options when we build your itinerary. Whichever routing you take, day one is an arrival and recovery day — a slow first night in a Casablanca riad, and the real touring starts on day two. On a 16-hour journey that is not a luxury, it is the difference between remembering the trip and enduring it.

Every itinerary is fully private and tailor-made — your driver, your guide, your dates, your pace. Because the flight from Edmonton is long, we usually suggest 12 days or more so the travel time is properly amortised. Browse the complete Morocco tours collection for full day-by-day itineraries.

AHCIP does not follow you abroad
Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan coverage outside Canada is minimal and nowhere near the cost of a medical evacuation. Private travel insurance with at least CA$2 million in emergency medical is strongly recommended for every Morocco trip. Buy within 72 hours of paying your tour deposit so pre-existing-condition stability clauses begin counting in your favour.
Mountain Time to Morocco
Morocco is 7 hours ahead of Mountain Time in winter and 8 hours ahead in summer. Morocco does not follow North American daylight saving the same way Alberta does, so the gap shifts by an hour at certain points in the year. We build the first day as recovery, and we do not schedule heavy guided touring on the day you land.
Price YEG and YYC both ways
Edmonton-originating transatlantic fares are frequently higher than the same trip out of Calgary, and the short hop south sometimes pays for itself several times over. We do not book your flights, but we will tell you honestly which routing we would take, and we will pace your itinerary around whichever you choose.
Winter is the argument
Edmonton winters are long and genuinely cold, and December through March is one of the best windows to be in Morocco. Marrakech sits around 18–22°C in January, the Sahara is sunny by day and cold at night, and the imperial cities are empty of summer crowds. It is a more interesting winter escape than a resort, and the flight is no longer than one to Southeast Asia.

Good to knowFAQs
How long is the flight from Edmonton to Morocco?+
Typically 16 to 18 hours door to door with one stop. The cleanest routings are via Amsterdam on KLM, Frankfurt on Lufthansa, or London on British Airways. Connecting through Calgary or Montréal first can open up better fares or a nonstop transatlantic leg. Routes change seasonally, so we confirm current options when we quote.
Is it worth flying that far for a 10-day trip?+
Honestly, we would suggest 12 days or more from Edmonton. On a 10-day trip you lose the first day to arrival and the last to departure, which leaves eight touring days for a country that rewards more. If 10 days is what you have, we will build a tighter route with less driving rather than cram the same itinerary into fewer days.
Do I need a visa to visit Morocco from Canada?+
No. Canadian passport holders enter Morocco visa-free for stays up to 90 days. Your passport must be valid for at least six months from your date of entry, and there is no advance paperwork to file from Alberta.
Why book through a BC-licensed agency if I live in Alberta?+
Because Alberta has no equivalent provincial licensing regime for travel agencies. Booking with a BPCPA-licensed agency means your payments sit in a regulated trust account, the BC Travel Assurance Fund provides a path to recovery if a supplier fails to deliver, and you have a Canadian regulator to escalate to. Booking direct with an offshore operator gives you none of that.
Can I pay in Canadian dollars?+
Yes. Every quote is issued in CAD and locked between deposit and final payment. We accept Interac e-Transfer, Canadian Visa, Mastercard and AMEX, and Canadian wire transfers.
Is there GST on the tour?+
No. Tour services are delivered entirely outside Canada and are zero-rated for GST/HST, so your invoice will not include sales tax. The only exception would be a rare Canadian-side add-on resold on your behalf, flagged explicitly on the quote.
What is the best month to travel from Edmonton?+
Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the universal sweet spots at 18–30°C. If you are escaping the Alberta winter, December to March is excellent for the desert and imperial cities. Spring departures book out four to six months ahead.
Can you accommodate halal, vegetarian or gluten-free diets?+
Yes. Halal is the default across Morocco. Vegetarian and gluten-free are straightforward at every meal. Kosher requires specific arrangements, which we handle through certified providers in Casablanca and Marrakech.
